 No.609770[Reply]

Now I know this may not be a popular opinion among the cock gobbling Tumblr SJWs on /co/, the worst board in all of 8chan, but I think enough is enough. Capeshit is a cancer on kino as we know it. The only film remotely approaching kino was DKR, and another movie like that will never be made again. As such, the cancer must be exterminated. Don't go to capeshit movies, don't buy capeshit video releases, don't buy capeshit merchandise, don't buy capeshit comics. Fuck, don't even download capeshit movies. If you seed a torrent for capeshit, you are part of the problem. If you see someone who expresses an interest in capeshit anywhere, call them a faggot for liking capeshit, kick them in the gut and give them a Stone Cold Stunner, because we all know capeshit is for faggots. There must be no mercy, because capeshit must die and its plague of faggotry must be removed from cinema forever.

>man of steel is genuinely great, and by far the best superman film.

I never gave a shit about the other supes films so I can't verify if it's the best supe film. You are full of shit nigger if you find the washed out colors, the retarded father, the dumb as fuck antagonists, supes going through his life as a bum soul searching, plain ugly aesthetics all around with the costumes and set pieces, and nothing but really bad looking cgi fights for the last quarter of the film.

>winter soldier and civil war didn't both one-up it is just wrong.

Meh if you liked the stupid cloak and dagger conspiracy shit with airships that'll shoot everyone to death whatever. Civil War was much shittier with the villain's machinations, how heroes should be responsible spiel and paper thin excuse for the heroes to fight each other

>it's not about the series but a sequel

It's a little disappointing but also kind of nice they're semi doing something new to expand on the books. Still a proper adaption of the books as a tv series would have been nice.

Any books you've read you want to see adapted to films or television?

Or are you just too jaded and believe hollywood's vision won't fit your imagination's take.

> Wolves_of_the_Calla

It's been so long since I have read the series that I forgot that was one of the books or that it was 7 books long. Of course, a friend of mine back in high school ruined the true ending, which caused to never touch the last book. I've gotten over since then, but I still don't really have any sort of desire to reread them.

However, I do remember the quality of the series deteriorating as time went on. The later books felt rushed and the early death of the clock work king was such a disappointment after his build up in the previous book. The flashback book was okay, but I think my favorite sections where when that druggie and possibly Roland end up on an airplane in the past and when a haunted house gains life and tries to eat that kid companion. They eventually end up in the wizard of oz world and that's where I believe they meet the clockwork king. The ending does make sense in retrospect, but it wasn't what I wanted at the time. I was far too used to books that ended with solid conclusions to be told it's an endless cycle until Roland essentially forgives and forgets the man in black.

To be fair, the endless cycle is entirely in Roland's hands. However, I highly doubt he'll ever give up the chase.

>>609104

It can serve to get others to read the books if they liked the movies. It can be a bit daunting to enter a bookstore with little clue as to what you might like to read. It's much easier if you already recognize a story and already have some interest in it. Just look how big lore explanations can be based off of movies, tv shows and video games. Star Wars had a ton of lore books and many spawned from video games as well like the Halo books.

Tv shows generally do a good job of condensing the book into a form that is hopefully more entertaining in shorter bursts. IT can be a slog to get through at times, but the tv series was very quick to get the viewer into it. On that note, I worry for the movie as a lot will have to be condensed if it they just go with a single film. Then there's the ending where it was an alien in the book and a spider monster/alien spider in the tv series. Although. not all books are a slog to get through and adventure stories are generally pretty quick to get into unless the author feels like cranking up the autism to 11.

>>609062

Necroscope would make a fine tv mini series. I think a mini series would be the better option for most books. A tv show can really drag along as seen by the Walking Dead. I understand that the WD is a soap opera, so that a tv series fits it better in that regard. However, a nice condensed mini series would be great.

>If it were the first "Star Wars" movie, "The Phantom Menace" would be hailed as a visionary breakthrough. But this is the fourth movie of the famous series, and we think we know the territory; many of the early reviews have been blase, paying lip service to the visuals and wondering why the characters aren't better developed. How quickly do we grow accustomed to wonders. I am reminded of the Isaac Asimov story "Nightfall," about the planet where the stars were visible only once in a thousand years. So awesome was the sight that it drove men mad. We who can see the stars every night glance up casually at the cosmos and then quickly down again, searching for a Dairy Queen.

>"Star Wars: Episode I–The Phantom Menace," to cite its full title, is an astonishing achievement in imaginative filmmaking.

It's honestly not that hard to stay looking nice throughout the years as long as you avoid the hard drugs that so many enjoy.

Also it's worth avoiding unnecessary plastic surgery, since it may look decent for a year or two, but it results in things just looking out of place after a few years when the rest of your face ages even slightly.

“I’m very disappointed in what I saw, and it seems like all the problems are the same problems. It’s discombobulated, it doesn’t have narrative flow. It’s just very disjointed.”

Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore and The Waterboy are classics in my opinion; they're stupid and ridiculous but that's what makes them so enjoyable for me. Click was great overall; it was consistently funny as well as surprisingly touching in the right moments, especially that rain scene toward the end. Anger Management was pretty funny. 50 First Dates was okay but idk if I'd watch it again because I'm not really into chick flicks. The Wedding Singer pretty much WAS a chick flick but for some reason, I actually didn't mind that about it; might've been the 80's setting or the music, idrk. The little I watched of Big Daddy and Mr. Deeds was alright, but I've never seen them in full. One of my friends told me about Little Nicky and said it was one of his favorites but I haven't seen that one yet, either. Grown Ups had its moments but the rest of it wasn't that funny to me. The snippets I saw of Jack and Jill made me want to kill myself.

>2d animation is so bad that people now prefer generic 3d animation to it

It's like hearing about people in the dung ages tried to copy Roman architecture but couldn't figure out the arch and shit. Pure poetry. Do we blame computers or the hacks in the industry? Whered the talent go?

3D animation has surpassed classic 2D animation as well.

Perhaps but I'd blame it on lack of trying. 2d animation seems to have just stagnated circa 2000 and now only the nips are doing anything creative/new with it. Western animation is relegated to flash-style shoestring budget crap like in OP or the bland McFarland/Simpsons style of Fox.

Princess and the Frog proved Disney still knows how to do 2d well, it just failed for obvious reasons, and the suits attributed it to audiences preferring 3d over 2d.
